Owner Member FAQ's

Can I only sail on my own boat?

No, whilst most Owner Members like to, just like any other member you can book any boat in your membership class from any base, a great way to explore new cruising grounds.

How long do I have to commit for?

The oldest boat we allow in the fleet is 5½ years; if you want to leave sooner you have to give us one seasons notice.

Do I have to pay for any maintenance?

No, we take care of that, although you may want to become more involved by becoming a Base Operator Owner Member.

How much do I get to use my own boat?

7 weeks spread out over the year (total of 49 days), plus as an Owner Member you can book an additional 2 week break; all we ask is that you take your bonus 2 weeks outside of the school holidays.

How do I know my boat is being looked after?

Simply book your boat online and sail it!

Do I have to add equipment on my boat?

No, your boat is supplied completely ready for you and other members to enjoy sailing; it is also fully MCA coded. Please see the Boat Specification for full details.

Can I become an Owner Member at any time?

We have to plan and balance new boats joining the fleet with new members joining, and also the production schedule of the boat builders. When we have an opportunity for another Owner Member our existing members usually have first option. If we are not due immediately to take another boat in to the fleet and you want to get out sailing, we suggest that you pre-register to be an Owner Member and join as a regular sailing member, then when you become an Owner Member we will refund up to 6 months of your membership.

Are there any other costs I have to pay?

The only cost Owner Members have to pay is their Annual Membership of £199 (inc. VAT) which covers their consumables such as gas and diesel.
