Booking Days
Members have on average 4 sailing days a month available; but can borrow days from adjoining months so as to make a longer booking.
Up to 25 days may be held as booked on the booking scheduler by a member at any time, this may include 7 weekend days. (Weekend days are Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holiday Mondays)
Generally the maximum length booking is 7 days, although outside of school holidays we can usually work with members to facilitate a longer booking of up to 12 days, all we ask is that any extended booking runs mid-week to mid-week.
Some owner members also have an additional 14 day booking available to be taken outside school holiday periods.
To achieve a longer than 4 day booking it is possible to “borrow” from the months either side, such that in three consecutive months you might sail for example :
| Month a) | 2 Days | |
| Month b) | 6 Days | |
| Month c) | 4 Days | |
| Total | 12 Days = an average of 4 days a month |
Therefore over 4 consecutive months it would be possible at the extreme of the rules to sail as illustrated below and average 4 days per a month, this would be acceptable provided that it included only one 7 day booking within the school holiday periods.
| Month a) | 0 Days | |
| Month b) | 8 Days | |
| Month c) | 8 Days | |
| Month d) | 0 Days | |
| Total | 16 Days = an average of 4 days a month |
Days can only be borrowed from a month either side of the month in which the over average number of days (i.e. more than 4 days), has already been used.
It is not possible to borrow days from a future month, illustrate in the above example as - it would not be possible to sail in month “d” by borrowing from what would be month “e”, because the month “d” days were borrowed and used in month “c”
It is not possible to “roll up” days.
We open the booking scheduler up progressively throughout the year and look to manage the allocation of key dates “in a spirit of fairness and co-operation”
Therefore for the first ten days after a booking period opens, bookings by members are provisional this is in order as to give all members a fair chance to make their sailing plans, after which these booking are confirmed.
| January to March | - | is bookable from 1st September |
| April to September | - | is bookable from 1st January |
| October to December | - | is bookable from 1st July |
Consecutive weekends cannot be booked unless the 2nd weekend is still free after noon on the Monday following the first weekend
The days taken for Round the Island and event days are not counted against anybody’s time
Members may request their “extra” 49th day at any time by e-mailing booking admin.
We at myBoatshare.com realise term dates vary and are happy to provide our school holiday calendar. Normally the holiday period commences on the Friday of the week before the first of the state schools break up and runs to the Monday after the last state school returns.
At myBoatshare.com we want all our members to enjoy their sailing time; however, we do reserve the right to remove, without notice, any or all bookings for members who are in payment arrears.
