Booking Time on the Water

How do I book my days ?

Simply log into the booking scheduler and check the availability of the days you want; because members can book any boat in their membership class there is lots of flexibility and plenty of opportunity to sail.

Am I booking a full day on the water?

Yes - you book the day you want to arrive - anytime from 10am and the boat is yours until 9.00 am the next day.

Is it ok to arrive early if the boat is not being used?

Yes - the scheduler allows you to see (and to show others) if the boat will be in use the night before your booking, if it is free you can arrive early on the day, or stop on board the night before, without the time being counted. For example weekday sailors usually leave the boats during the day on a Friday, which makes it possible for weekend crews to arrive and get away early on Saturday.

How long can I sail for at a time?

You can book up to 7 days by "borrowing" days from the months either side and without contacting us, indeed typically over 90% of our members take at least one 7 day or longer trip each year. If you are able to sail outside of school holidays we are also happy to work with you to schedule a trip of up to 12 days duration.

How far in advance can I book?

We open the booking scheduler progressively thought the year enabling members to make their boating plans well in advance.

January to March - is bookable from 1st September
April to September - is bookable from 1st January
October to December - is bookable from 1st July

The booking windows give us a chance to be fair to everybody wanting to schedule a holiday length slot.

What stops one member "hogging" all the key dates?

The scheduler operates "in a spirit of fairness and co-operation" although a commercial organisation we like to foster a club like atmosphere amongst the members. At any given time a member can hold a maximum of 25 days on the booking scheduler including 7 weekend days.

What happens if I need to cancel?

We will immediately make your slots available to other members, if it is booked by another member you will get days back again to book on another date. (If you cancel and another member does not take up the time, you will lose the sailing days).

Non available days

Some out of season days are restricted to allow time for lift outs and the routine servicing, although there is usually another yacht in the class available. Round the Island and some other member events dates may also be restricted.

We are planning that Round the Island will again be a member's event weekend, plus probably a Spring Treasure Hunt with members teamed up together, with the time not counted against any member's personal time.
